The Soundcraft Creed
By musicians for musicians. Our mission is to build tools that give artists superpowers—not replace them.
A Personal Note
Hi, I'm Lukas. I'm building Soundcraft as a solo bootstrapped dev. I've worked as an ML research/full-stack engineer at several AI startups and was the co-founder & CTO of an AI dubbing company.
But my true passion is music.
I started playing classical violin in 1st grade, but switched to Ableton in high school and have been producing and DJing ever since. I've released house/techno under my real name with signed releases on several record labels. I also love making future bass and dubstep under my alter-ego Nokturne.
AI for Creativity
AI can now respond to emails, answer the phone, write code, and automate countless other kinds of work. The progress is real and accelerating. In many domains, automating monotony or enabling new breakthroughs is a welcome change. Who doesn't want a cleaner inbox, the cheapest tickets, or even the cure to cancer?
But creativity is different. I've devoted countless hours to learning the ins and outs of sound design, mixing, phase alignment... and I love it. But several companies have released impressive models which entirely automate production. Of course this is great for tons of fun use cases. But for the best artists the process is the point. When the entire creative process is automated, something fundamental is lost.
Soundcraft's core mission is to build cutting-edge AI tools that give artists superpowers—not steal their data and replace them.
What We're Building
We're building a full platform of next-generation AI-native products to augment creative workflows. We're starting with copilot-like tools for producers and audio engineers: sound design, sample creation, and more.
Our ultimate vision is a fully featured DAW reimagined for the age of AI—without compromising what experienced creatives have come to expect: native performance, third-party plugins, automation, recording, mixing, etc. But wouldn't it be cool if your DAW could also give you feedback on your mix, create release/promo assets, manage upload schedules, or automate sending your demos to labels?
More to come...
