Introducing Soundcraft
Soundcraft is now in public beta: an infinite AI sample generator controlled with text and designed for real musicians.
AI can now respond to emails, answer the phone, write code, and automate countless other kinds of work. The progress is real and accelerating. In many domains, automating monotony or enabling new breakthroughs is a welcome change. Who doesn't want a cleaner inbox, the cheapest tickets, or even the cure to cancer?
But creativity is different. Artists don't create because they have to—but because they want to. For creatives, the process is the point. When models are trained to automate the entire creative process, something fundamental is lost.
Our mission is to build tools that give artists superpowers—not replace them. As our first step on that journey, we're launching Soundcraft in public beta. Built by musicians for musicians.
The Model
Under the hood is our new state-of-the-art foundation model: billions of parameters optimized to generate studio quality audio samples from text. It understands genre, key, bpm, timbre, and more. Generation is blazingly fast—even with multiple variations included with every prompt.
Our first model is the culmination of years of research into the equilibrium dynamics of energy landscapes and classic signal processign techniques. It was trained on a diverse corpus of open and synthetic audio. A technical report with further details will be released soon.
Built for Producers
Soundcraft does not produce finished tracks. That is your job! It shines at creating the specific sample you need to finish your project, or exploring never-before heard sounds for endless inspiration.
Samples should fit your projects—not the other way around. Soundcraft gives you precise control over duration, bpm, key, and more. Create samples ready to drop into any project or DAW.
Soundcraft can generate endless variations from any prompt. This means every sample you create is completely unique. Never worry about someone recognizing your samples again.
Our novel modeling paradigm even allows you to "reroll" or "flip" samples into new sounds. With text prompting and controllable temperature, subtle tweaks or drastic reimaginings are a click away. It's a new kind of synthesis you have to try to believe.
And most importantly, fidelity is paramount. Every sample is rendered in stereo at 48 kHz and available to download as a lossless .wav.
What's Next
Infinite sample generation is our first product, and we can't wait to see what you will make with it. Expect frequent updates with improved quality, diversity, and controllability. We welcome all feedback: positive and negative.
But our roadmap is much more ambitious. We're building a full suite of next-generation tools to augment creative workflows. Our ultimate vision is a fully featured DAW—reimagined for the age of AI—without compromising what experienced creatives have come to expect: native-performance, third party plugins, automation, recording, mixing, and more.
